Elaine & Kieran ~ Galway Wedding Photographer
Posted on August 6, 2010
On the August bank holiday Monday I headed to Galway to shoot an engagement session for Elaine and Kieran. I am shooting their wedding in Westmeath next month and we decided to shoot the engagement session in Galway because Elaine went to university there. Also, Kieran is a chef and runs a restaurant with his family called The Galway Plate.
We managed to get some great photos in both locations and had a bit of fun with the restaurant shots and captured some romance at the university.
Enjoy!
A Dog & Her Girl
Posted on August 4, 2010
Em bought a Rubistyle gift voucher at Christmas time for her family to get some portraits taken. On Sunday we finally got together in their lovely garden for the shoot.
Em brought her gorgeous dog Jessie with her and I shot some dog portraits and photos of the two of them together.
Jessie is a beautiful and lovely natured dog and she loved the camera. She insisted on getting in nearly every family portrait too!
Kerrie & Aidan ~ Ireland Wedding Photography
Posted on July 27, 2010
ust the day before Kerrie and Aidan got married it absolutely lashed with rain. Those of you who were at the wedding will remember. Not just showers. Not heavy rain. Floods of rain.
This was the 15th of July which is known as St Swithun’s Day. According to an old weather lore proverb, if it rains on the 15th of July it will rain for 40 days. Things weren’t looking good.
St Swithun’s day if thou dost rain
For forty days it will remain
St Swithun’s day if thou be fair
For forty days ’twill rain nae mare
The morning of the wedding I was up bright and early as Kerrie had booked getting ready coverage for herself and Aidan and I was due to begin shooting at 8am. As I headed up the N4 to Leixlip the rain started to ease and the sky was clearing. It turned out to be a fabulous day and although rain threatened to fall after the ceremony it was only a threat. By the time we got to the Johnstown House Hotel for the reception it was a gloriously sunny day.
Kerrie and Aidan’s gorgeous dog Roxy, who you will remember from their engagement session, made a surprise appearance outside the church to welcome her newly married Mum and Dad! Be sure to check her out on their wedding cake topper in the photos below. Seriously sweet!
Megan Hughes did a fantastic job on the girls’ makeup and didn’t complain once about having to work away with the camera in close proximity during the getting ready photos. Thanks Megan!

Helen & Paul ~ Athlone Wedding Photographer
Posted on July 1, 2010
On the 14th of May I shot my second wedding this summer as lead photographer for Roberta Cotter Photography.
This time I was off to Athlone to shoot the wedding of Helen and Paul. I shot their engagement session, also in Athlone, at Easter time and we had a great time. So much so that I was really looking forward to shooting their wedding because I knew they were very into their photos and taking the time to get some great portraits after the ceremony.
The wedding ceremony was held in the Church of St Brigid in Drum and the reception was in Shamrock Lodge Hotel.
As their guests headed to the hotel for the reception we took a detour down to the Shannon to shoot some bride and groom portraits, and what a day it was for that. We were blessed with the weather!
Helen and Paul, thank you so much for having me there for your big day. You certainly made my job easy. I wish you all the best for the future and hope you love your wedding photos!

Brenda & James ~ Galway Wedding
Posted on June 22, 2010
I recently shot the wedding of Brenda & James in Galway. This is the first wedding I have shot as lead photographer for Roberta Cotter Photography. As I previously explained in this post, Bobbi hired me to shoot her summer weddings after discovering at Christmas she was pregnant and would be expecting in June.
This was my first time shooting a wedding where I had not met the couple before the big day. I need not have worried! Brenda and James were lovely, welcoming and very much into the photography. They allowed a lot of time for shooting their portraits on the day and I think it paid off!
Brenda & James also chose to have a second photographer on the day and Bobbi flew Tammie Thessing over from America to shoot with me. Thanks Tammie, I enjoyed shooting with you!

Ceremony Location
NUI Galway Chapel
Reception Location
Cloonacauneen Castle

Helen & Paul ~ Engagement Session ~ Mullingar Wedding Photographer
Posted on June 5, 2010
In the run up to Christmas last year I received an exciting email from fellow photographer Roberta Cotter telling me she was expecting her first baby this June. I have known Bobbi for a few years now, and in fact, shot my very first wedding with her in Galway in 2008.
After her initial excitement wore off she realised she needed to look after her clients and do something about her summer weddings, as she wouldn’t be able to shoot them herself. This is where I come in. Bobbi shot me a mail to ask would I be free to shoot her weddings and willing to do so. I was thrilled she asked me and didn’t hesitate to say yes even though it was a very daunting thing to take on.
Bobbi, thank you for trusting me with your business and clients. It has been an honour to shoot for Roberta Cotter Photography and every client of yours I have worked with so far has been a pleasure!
This is Helen and Paul. I shot their engagement session on Good Friday and their wedding earlier this month. More on their beautiful wedding later.
For now, here are some of the engagement photos. All photos shot by me for Roberta Cotter Photography and all processing is by Rubistyle.
Kerrie & Aidan ~ Engagement Session ~ Mullingar Wedding Photographer
Posted on April 30, 2010
Kerrie & Aidan first approached me last October about shooting their wedding after seeing this wedding I shot for Kerrie’s colleagues, Thomas & Grainne.
Ever since we met and they booked me for their wedding I have been excited to shoot their engagement session. They were up for anything and even wanted to bring their dog Roxy along for the shoot! I got even more excited when they returned their session questionnaire and there were promises of a Mini, some sports action and a trip to the lake with a bottle of Champagne.
Kerrie and Aidan, I hope you like your photos. I had a fun couple of hours with you and cannot wait to shoot your wedding in July.
PS. Yes, I did have trouble narrowing down the images to post!
This is my second favourite shot of the day. I love how Aidan only has eyes for Kerrie and Kerrie only has eyes for Roxy and Roxy only has eyes for Aidan. So cute!
This is my absolute favourite shot. So sweet.

Kerrie is from Kildare where GAA rules and Aidan is from Tipperary where hurling is king. I think we got some great shots of them playing.

Posted on April 24, 2010
Here is just one shot from my engagement session with Kerrie & Aidan today. I have a lot to say about these guys and our photo session, but that will have to wait. I can tell you though that there will be a sweet dog, a forest, a lake, some sport, a Mini Cooper and polka dots. Oh, and a stunning couple!

Product Review ~ DVD Disc of High Resolution Wedding Photos
Posted on February 16, 2010
Today I am posting a review of the most requested item in my wedding packages, the high resolution DVD. Understandably, most couples today prefer to have their own copy of edited photos from their wedding day on disc. Although many couples choose packages with albums or add an album on afterwards it is nice to have your own copy of the images to keep and not be tied into buying prints of your wedding day from your photographer.
Included in every Rubistyle wedding package, and available on the à la carte price list, is a DVD disc containing edited, colour corrected high resolution photos from your wedding. Also included on the disc will be resized, web resolution images ready for you to post on Facebook, email to friends and relatives or post anywhere online. The disc comes in a stylish, custom designed case featuring an image from your wedding and also includes a print release which allows you to make your own prints at any photo lab.

I love the picture with the pole and the ones on the bridge. Fantastic.
Simply simply fantastic Amy! I loved Galway when I visited there some years back. I dubbed it the Brighton of Ireland, though I dare say Brighton is the Galway of England. A fantastically creative place and quite befitting that you’ve created some fantastically creative images there. I couldn’t think of a more appropriately personal theming of a shoot for Elaine & Kieran. I love all the images but am especially endeared by the shot of them kissing through the serving hatch, and the earlier one of them brandishing knives (tender and amusing in equal measure), oh and the ones of them embracing amongst the trees and foliage. All of them really!
Ooh! Great work. Love the one with the wall of ivy!
Wow, great job, way to rock it in the rain. Your locations are perfect for this couple, they look like they would have been fun to work with.
I absolutely love your processing!
Amazing!
I love how you captured them in their working environment at the start of the set, very cool! The whole set is lovely from start to finish.
Last shot is really NICE!
Oh my gosh, what a creative and fun session! I really love the colors and trees in some of the photos.
Hey, these are great! I really like the cookin’ shots. Really really creative.
Wow! Love these. So original and so beautifully captured. I’m sure they love these, I think it’s impossible not to.
I love this concept =)
Love the shots through all the trees and nature. Nice work!
That frame with them kissing through the kitchen window – AMAZING. One of the best frames ever seen from an engagement session. You rocked it!
I really love these. I love seeing them in their Chef whites cooking together. Great job.
I love that you got them just doing what they do! The first photograph cracks me up. Great work!
